So, unsatisfied with the various options for a CMS I built one myself. Why? Primarily because existing CMS’s either were too light (ie, no really easy model building or customization) or too heavy (Refinery is awesome, but not really optimal for affiliate sites).
So, if you’re using Rails 3 on Heroku, you need to know this very important thing when working with CSV’s. The regular stack for ruby on Heroku is default set to version 1.8.7, which means that it is using the version of ruby with the old CSV library in place instead of the new one where they took FasterCSV and integrated it in (soooo much faster).

So right now I’m making a new site for the holiday season using Sinatra on Heroku. Fairly simple site with the goal of having some really cool ways to ship stuff during the holidays.
This has been rattling around my brain for a while… I feel that the best way to develop new apps is to make them Simple, Light, Intuitive and Powerful.
So, if you are making a cron job for Heroku and you have gone ahead and make a cron.rake file in lib/tasks, you also need to remove the “namespace :cron do … end” code from any example code you may have used as a start.
